We are a rural school with grades from K-12. We are continuing to grow in numbers, with an enrolment of 185 students this school year. Our students have access to an array of extra curricular activities, including sports teams, Peer Support, Student Council, Chess Club, Reach for the Top, Travel Club, and the list goes on.
We have a very vibrant and active elementary end of the school, with staff and students exploring learning both in and out of the classroom setting. Our teachers and support staff attend Professional Development every year to see how we can hone our teaching skills to meet the needs of our students.
Our school's goal last year revolved around student engagement, focusing on how to make learning more hands-on, offer more real-world connections, and help develop skills for an ever-changing workforce. Many of our high school students access our career course options, gaining credit for volunteering, interning, and having a paid position. We are rolling out more individualized courses that align with the Manitoba Course Handbook, including: Adulting 101 (Lifeworks 30), Learn how to Sew (Textiles 10), and grade 8 Careers and Outdoor Education. Engagement also takes place out of the classroom. Both our Junior and Senior Student Councils were very active last year, and we are excited to see what new activities and events they will plan this year.
